Week 2: Positive Self-Talk

Do you remember the last time you said something nice to yourself? If it was a long time ago–you’re not alone. Giving yourself positive affirmations can be challenging, and might be reflective of how you’re feeling mentally, which is completely valid. Try giving yourself one compliment a day to start. While it might feel weird at first, once you get in the habit of doing it, the positive self-talk will flow out of you. It can also improve your entire mood and well-being. Even if you’re congratulating yourself for something small, like remembering to shower— that’s all matters. This article breaks down how to take control of negative thought patterns, and shift your thinking into positive affirmations. Forming a new habit takes time, and doing things like checking in with your feelings and surrounding yourself with positive people can benefit your mentality and verbalized positive moments. Sometimes when a situation is too hard to navigate, it’s best to talk to someone about it. While you have your immediate support system, even speaking with a therapist can give you clarity on how to share your positive moments.
