March: Boundaries

We’ve all talked about boundaries but do we really know what boundaries are, how to set them and hold them, to respect others and more? This month we’re diving into boundaries and breaking the negative stigma around them. Boundaries are NOT confrontational or aggressive, when implemented they are beneficial to everyone involved. But first, let’s start at the beginning – what exactly is a boundary. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary a boundary is:

/ˈbound(ə)rē/

something that indicates or fixes a limit or extent.

A traditional definition of a boundary can be understood in a physical sense – for example, those two trees mark the boundary of our property. For our purposes as an intention we are going to dive deeper than just the physical sense, though those boundaries are very necessary, we want to explore setting more boundaries that can benefit our mental health, emotional well-being, romantic and platonic relationships and work life balance.

Take a few minutes today to think about and even write out boundaries you’ve already implemented in your life. What other boundaries would you like to implement?
