May Intention: Flourish

What does it mean to grow, to thrive and to prosper? In many ways we see it in nature, every spring when buds open up and become flowers or when caterpillars break from their cocoon as butterflies. This is a process of flourishing – but how do we as humans flourish? What does that even mean – or look like? First, let’s start at the beginning with defining flourish. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary flourish is:

flour·ish

(of a person, animal, or other living organism) grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment.

Flourishing is often recognized as an outward expression of growth or accomplishments but it starts within. And the key to it starting within, like it says in the definition, is a favorable environment. To flourish it isn’t just about the end result – crossing the finish line first or with a personal best – but every little thing you did to get you there. It starts from within and from where we are, who we surround ourselves with and the final result can then be seen in a physical sense. Even if that physical sense is a bigger smile, a more confident laugh or a taller posture – the inner work we do in order to flourish will be seen to others even if we aren’t trying to show them. This month we are going to explore how we can flourish starting from within and working outwards. Join us here and on the self love club podcast as Mary explores this intention and how we can all encourage ourselves to flourish.
