Monday Must: How We're Getting Ready For The New Year

IT HAS TRULY BEEN ONE LONG YEAR - AS A TEAM WE’RE ALL READY TO MOVE INTO 2021. WE EACH HAVE OUR OWN WAYS OF MAKING SPACE FOR NEW ENERGY WHETHER IT’S ALONE OR WITH OTHERS, HERE’S WHAT WE DO TO WRAP UP THE YEAR AND WELCOME THE NEW ONE.

We won’t get too into how this year went and we’re truly ready to leave it behind. We may not be allowed to party or watch the ball drop with our friends but there are still ways to ring in the new year. Whether it’s a tradition or a simple action, here’s how we’ll be getting ready for the new year.

Write Goals

Claire and her family always write goals for the upcoming year. You can write goals or set intentions for the upcoming year. It’s an activity you can do by yourself or with others, and if you’re comfortable you can share them with your loved ones. It adds a level of accountability so you’re not forgetting the things you want to accomplish for 2021.

Get Match-y

Kyla says “we have to wear something red for NYE - could be socks, nail polish, something - it’s a way to bring good luck into the new year.'“ Little traditions like these are a fun way to kick off the new year, whether you believe in it or not, you’ll most definitely get a very cute photo out of it and maybe some luck for the upcoming year.

Reflective Conversations

Helen usually spends the eve with her pals, “I love spending it with my friends, last year one of my closest friends and I spent a good part of the night chatting about the year and what we hope the next year could look like.” If you’re use to spending it with others it can still be fun to call up your friends and round off the year with them. It’s an opportunity to connect with those you love and enter the new year with them.

Feast of Your Favourite Eats

Mary starts the 1st of every year with good food, “I always have a feast for breakfast on the 1st to start my year eating my favs.” If delicious food is something that brights up your day, this is definitely an ideal way to start the year on the right foot.

Take a Hike

… Or go for a walk through the park. Diandra likes to spend as much time in nature. We spend so much of our time indoors - taking a walk can clear your mind and get you grounded. There’s truly nothing like reconnecting with Mother Earth, espescially during this time.
