June: Self-Celebration
Why don’t we humblebrag more? Typically, you might feel insecure, shame or - like you’re burdening others. It can be challenging to break down why we fear celebrating our achievements and the importance of sharing them with others. For some, we’ve been taught to take up a little space as possible, and only speak when we’re spoken to. But, after a while, that becomes exhausting as we become comfortable with letting the good things in our life go unnoticed because we’re afraid to be vocal for the fear of looking like “too much.” But with practise, and breaking down the taboos of celebrating your moments—big or small—you’ll start to feel the self-gratitude and the comfort of being able to share yourself with others.
Each week in June we’re going to share our thoughts and tips for celebrating yourself and unpacking the stigma of being proud of your accomplishments.
WEEK 1: WHY IS IT TABOO?
WEEK 2: POSITIVE SELF-TALK
WEEK 3: THINK PRESENTLY
WEEK 4: SHARE YOUR MOST RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS
You’ve made it through another monthly intention with us! Take five minutes to reflect on this month. If you didn’t, don’t panic—learning to celebrate yourself doesn’t happen in a month and takes time to build up in your psyche. These intentions are designed to help you challenge your thinking and take small steps to shift your mindset. Here are some prompts to keep your mind going post-monthly-intention:
PROMPTS:
- Were you able to move through each of the stages towards celebrating yourself this month? If not, which stage(s) are you spending more time on?
- What do you find is the most difficult part of celebrating yourself?
- Self-celebration isn’t a process that you have to (or will) experience alone. How are you going to continue celebrating others and yourself in future moments and conversations?
